Kinsta vs SiteGround for WooCommerce (2026): Which Fits a Growing Store?
Kinsta vs SiteGround for WooCommerce: plans, PHP threads, caching, staging, SLA, and support compared for stores doing $1M–$50M a year.
Kinsta vs SiteGround for WooCommerce comes down to compute isolation. Kinsta runs each store in its own Google Cloud container with a published PHP-thread count and an included APM, from $35/month. SiteGround starts at $2.99/month on shared hosting and steps up to $100–$400/month cloud servers. SiteGround suits small stores; Kinsta suits checkout-heavy ones; above $1M GMV, neither alone.
Plans and entry price
Kinsta sells single-site plans by monthly visits. Single 35k is $35/month ($30/month billed annually) with 2 PHP threads; Single 65k is $50/month with 4 threads; Single 125k is $90/month; Single 315k is $170/month; Single 500k is $290/month; and Single 750k is $375/month, per the Kinsta plans page. Kinsta’s own WooCommerce hosting page points stores at the $50/month single-site tier, the $115/month WP 5 tier, or Agency plans from $340/month. Add-ons stack on top: Redis is $100/month per site, an Nginx reverse proxy is $50/month per site, a premium staging environment is $20/month, and hourly backups are $100/month per site, per Kinsta’s add-on docs.
SiteGround sells the same three shared plans under a WooCommerce label. StartUp is $2.99/month for the first 12-month term and renews at $17.99/month; GrowBig is $4.99/month, renewing at $29.99/month; GoGeek is $7.99/month, renewing at $44.99/month, per the SiteGround WooCommerce hosting page. Above that sits SiteGround Cloud: Jump Start at $100/month (4 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM), Business at $200/month (8 cores, 12 GB), Business Plus at $300/month (12 cores, 16 GB), and Super Power at $400/month (16 cores, 20 GB), each with 5 TB of transfer and no introductory discount.
For a store doing $1M a year, the honest comparison is Kinsta Single 125k–500k ($90–$290/month before add-ons) against SiteGround Cloud Business or Business Plus ($200–$300/month). The promotional $2.99 figure is not the number a growing store will pay.
Compute model: isolated containers vs shared and cloud servers
Kinsta places every site in an isolated container on Google Cloud and meters it by PHP threads. Each thread handles one uncached request at a time; a store with 4 threads that receives 8 simultaneous uncached requests queues 4 of them, as Kinsta’s PHP-thread documentation explains. That matters for WooCommerce because cart, checkout, and my-account requests are never served from page cache. The published counts run from 2 threads on Single 35k to 8 on Single 500k and 750k, with Enterprise plans starting at 8 per site. Kinsta has also moved regions such as Mumbai and Las Vegas onto Google’s C3D virtual machines, per its changelog.
SiteGround’s shared plans also run on Google Cloud infrastructure, per its data center page, but SiteGround does not publish a PHP worker count per shared plan; GrowBig and GoGeek advertise “30% faster PHP” rather than a concurrency figure. The cloud tier is where you get a defined allocation: dedicated cores and RAM, plus an autoscale option that adds resources during spikes. In practice, a shared plan on either side of the $17.99–$44.99 renewal range is sized for content sites and small catalogs, not for a store pushing thousands of orders a day.
WooCommerce caching, staging, and monitoring
Kinsta’s page cache excludes cart, my-account, and checkout so shoppers see live data, and its Edge Caching serves cached pages from 300+ locations, per the WooCommerce hosting page. Kinsta APM is included on every plan and shows PHP and MySQL transaction data without a third-party plugin. Staging is included; premium staging with more CPU is $20/month per environment. Uptime checks run every 3 minutes.
SiteGround ships “multilevel caching” (static, dynamic, and object layers) and its Speed Optimizer plugin on every plan, per the WordPress hosting page. Staging is available on GrowBig, GoGeek, and all cloud plans; StartUp has none. On-demand backups start at GrowBig; daily geo-distributed backups are on every plan. SiteGround’s plan pages do not list an application performance monitor, so query-level diagnosis means installing your own tooling.

Scaling, SLA, migration, and support
Scaling on Kinsta is a plan change: more visits, more threads, more disk, or a dedicated server from $300/month. There is no burst capacity in the base plans, so a launch that needs 20 concurrent uncached checkouts on a 6-thread plan will queue. SiteGround’s shared plans scale the same way, by moving up a tier; only the cloud plans offer autoscale, and SiteGround does not publish what the added resources cost per hour, so budget with sales before Black Friday.
On SLAs, Kinsta’s service level agreement sets a 99.9% standard (credits once downtime passes 43 minutes in a month) and a 99.99% option that must be written into your order form (credits after 4 minutes). Credits start at 5% of the monthly fee and must be requested in writing within 30 days. SiteGround lists a 99.9% uptime guarantee on its data center page. Independent monitoring by Hostingstep over the 2025 calendar year recorded Kinsta at 99.9714% uptime (149 minutes down across 5 outages) and SiteGround at 99.9629% (193 minutes across 44 outages), with average TTFB of 459 ms and 632 ms respectively. Neither company entered the 2026 WooCommerce tier of the WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks, so there is no public, load-tested WooCommerce result to compare.
Both include migration (unlimited on Kinsta; a free transfer on SiteGround) and 24/7 support. Kinsta advertises live chat responses under 2 minutes; SiteGround reserves priority support for GoGeek and cloud customers.
The third option: when neither fits a high-traffic store
Kinsta and SiteGround both sell a fixed box: a thread count or a core count, and a plan upgrade when you outgrow it. For a store doing $1M–$50M a year, the cost of that ceiling shows up as slow checkouts on a launch day, not as a line on the invoice. That is the case Urumi is built for. Urumi is managed WooCommerce hosting on multi-zone Google Cloud with horizontal auto-scaling, a 99.99% uptime SLA with active-active zones and auto-failover, a WooCommerce-aware cache that understands cohorts, A/B tests, and channels, fully managed APM with traces and logs, isolated staging per branch with one-click rollback, and Cloudflare Enterprise delivery. On top sit three AIs: Revenue AI watches checkout, cart, pricing, and payments around the clock and prices every regression in dollars; Builder AI builds features and integrations from plain English; Analytics AI answers questions about your live store, GA, and Stripe. grüum moved to Urumi, cut cached loads from 4.0 s to 0.3 s, absorbed 16× baseline load, and grew revenue 13.3% year over year on Urumi. Urumi publishes its own load-test results on the WooCommerce performance benchmark page: a 236 ms median cart response and a 321 ms median checkout with the edge cache disabled. Frequently asked questions
Is Kinsta or SiteGround better for WooCommerce?
Kinsta gives a WooCommerce store a defined number of PHP threads in an isolated Google Cloud container, an included APM, and cache rules that skip cart and checkout. SiteGround costs less at entry ($2.99/month promotional, $17.99–$44.99/month on renewal) but does not publish per-plan concurrency for shared hosting. Stores that see checkout spikes usually need Kinsta’s Single 125k tier or higher, or SiteGround Cloud.
How much does Kinsta cost for a WooCommerce store?
Kinsta’s single-site plans run from $35/month (35,000 visits, 2 PHP threads) to $375/month (750,000 visits, 8 threads), billed monthly. Kinsta’s WooCommerce page recommends starting at the $50/month tier or the $115/month WP 5 plan. Redis ($100/month per site) and premium staging ($20/month) are separate add-ons.
Does SiteGround’s WooCommerce hosting scale?
SiteGround’s shared WooCommerce plans scale by moving up a tier, from StartUp to GrowBig to GoGeek. Beyond that, SiteGround Cloud offers 4 to 16 dedicated cores from $100 to $400/month with an autoscale option that adds resources during spikes. SiteGround does not publish a PHP worker count for its shared plans.
What uptime guarantee do Kinsta and SiteGround offer?
Kinsta’s standard SLA is 99.9%, with a 99.99% level available when written into an order form. SiteGround lists a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Independent 2025 monitoring by Hostingstep measured 99.9714% for Kinsta and 99.9629% for SiteGround.
